Position Summary:
The UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is Orange County’s only state and federally funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. The Institute is composed of faculty and staff from multiple Departments and Schools, ranging from basic laboratory scientists to physician investigators, with a common goal of research discovery to improve the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure of age-related brain diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease.

You'll play a crucial role in increasing recruitment and enrollment for our pioneering clinical trials and research studies. But your responsibilities stretch beyond that. Job Summary details: The key responsibility of the Community Engagement Specialist is to conduct community outreach and engagement, promoting efforts to increase recruitment and enrollment for UCI MIND’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center clinical trials and research studies. Core duties include identifying and forming successful collaborations with local and national organizations, planning and organizing engagement activities, presenting at stakeholder events, and assisting with the pre-screening/screening process for participants. The specialist is responsible for developing and implementing research study marketing strategies, networking with prospective community partners, and regularly assessing the effectiveness of these engagement activities. The role requires fluent English and Mandarin communication skills, strong collaboration with the study team, and a drive to establish trust and partnerships with various key stakeholders in the community. In terms of daily operations and communication, the incumbent will coordinate all necessary meetings and communications related to community engagement efforts, attend ACTC Consortium engagement workgroup meetings/calls, and create regular reports providing metrics to UCI MIND's leadership. The Specialist will handle confidential data following HIPAA guidelines and UCI policies. This role requires skills in population-based research, advanced communication, and data monitoring and evaluation. In this role, you will formulate strategies and administer policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in Alzheimer's Disease research, an ability to engage with diverse communities, and a strong commitment to promoting UCI MIND's mission and values.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $73,900.00 - $88,850.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
- 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in community engagement and implementation of protocols.
- Experience in research participant recruitment, screening, and consenting human subjects for research projects.
- Bilingual English and Mandarin (proven proficiency and fluency for oral, reading, and writing skills).
- 2 years of demonstrated community-based research-related experience is preferred.
- Required bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology, public health, or a related field.
- CA driver’s license
- Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
