Overview
Assists the Controller with the financial affairs of the organization and financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules. This position will also be involved with the company's financial plans and policies, as well as its accounting practices with focus on the integrity of company financial statements. The position involves supervision of the Accounts Receivable team and working hands on with other areas of Finance & Accounting. The Accounting Manager will also be involved with the budget process, implementing best practices, internal controls and working on various projects that will increase efficiencies. The position reports directly to the Controller/Assistant Controller. This is a succession position.
Responsibilities
• Assists with developing accounting policies and procedures. • Helps to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports. • Assists with analyzing P&L actual, budget and last year’s variances. • Reviews company’s Fixed Assets and Depreciation Schedules. • Assists with Preparation for the annual external audit. • Assists with the annual budget process and the development of the final budget. • Works hands on with the A/R Manager and Supervisor on timely and accurate billing, process improvements, quality control and collections. • Initiates, and coordinates, activities to improve financial reporting throughout the Company to include the documentation and implementation of related policies and procedures. • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. • Develops, analyzes, and interprets statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization. • Responsible for cross training the evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department under his/her supervision.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
• 4 years demonstrated experience as a General Ledger Accountant
• Experience in Moving/Logistics preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Two years in public accounting preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills
• Advanced MS Excel user
• Experience with MS Great Plains / Dynamics is a plus.
• Detail oriented
• Proactive and Strategic
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated leadership ability.
