Pulmonary Function Technologist - Mercy Lorain Hospital
Performs a variety of pulmonary and diagnostic procedures including the evaluation of preliminary data and recommending or performing testing per department policy. This is done in a variety of settings including all in-patient areas, OR, ICU’s and outpatient setting. Maintains all equipment, orders supplies, help transport patient as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collect and evaluate relevant clinical history from patients. Records accurately all pertinent data needed to complete laboratory forms per established department policy. Measures and records accurately all physical data from patients (height, weight) per established department policy.
Instructs patients and elicits cooperation in performing diagnostic Pulmonary Function testing procedures.
Verifies calibration and records values with 100% accuracy on a daily basis for laboratory equipment per established department policy.
Data and file management. (Enters all procedural charges into hospital billing system daily. Interacts with department computer scheduling programs. Accesses hospital Critical Care System (CCS) to obtain pertinent patient data.)
Operates and maintains all equipment and trouble shoot with biomed/manufacture.
Age Related Competency. Participates in Age Specific Competency Training, within 12-month period of time and has demonstrated the ability to obtain information and assess patient/customer needs for the following age group(s)Adolescent (5-17 yrs; Adult (18-64 yrs.); Geriatric (65-+ yrs.).
Applies the knowledge of growth and development stages in direct patient/customer interactions, as observed by the supervisor, for the following age group(s) Adolescent (5-17 yrs; Adult (18-64 yrs.); Geriatric (65-+ yrs.). Understands the range of treatment and or services needed by the different age groups served Adolescent (5-17 yrs; Adult (18-64 yrs.); Geriatric (65-+ yrs.).as observed by supervisor.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: Maintains a current Ohio license and credentials including the required CEU’s
Must challenge and successfully pass Certification Exam Pulmonary Function Technologist within 18 months of excepting the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in Respiratory care.
Due to the involvement of critically ill patients, 5 years of previous Respiratory Care experience in a hospital setting.
