Position Summary:
The CASAS Coordinator is part of the team at Briya Public Charter School — a leading two-generation education program serving immigrant parents and their young children in Washington, D.C. Briya is a Tier One Public Charter School, consistently achieving the highest educational outcomes through its innovative, family-centric programming.
Briya’s core adult education program is comprised of three highly integrated areas of study: English, parenting, and digital literacy. The curriculum prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to navigate their community as effective parents, employees, and citizens. Briya offers a learning environment with a variety of technology available to enhance daily lessons and activities. Briya also offers high quality early education for children 0-5 and workforce development programs for advanced adult students who wish to pursue career-ready certifications.
Briya has a strategic partnership with Mary’s Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, further strengthening student families with comprehensive medical, dental, and social services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Policies and Processes
- Develop processes/procedures for Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) data collection and coordinate CASAS procedures across all sites (Georgia, Fort Totten, Ontario, Shepherd).
- Stay up to date on national CASAS developments including National Reporting System (NRS) approved tests.
- As member of CASAS committee, comprised of representatives from administration and Adult Education, develop testing schedule, review annual progress, and develop and refine implementation plans.
- Attend local and national CASAS trainings and discussions to inform Briya’s implementation
Training
- Serve as local resource to staff regarding information and training resources for TopsPro Enterprise (TE), eTests, and casas.org.
- Coordinate with Briya staff members administering CASAS tests to ensure that all staff receive CASAS training and information regarding certification (if necessary).
- Provide program-specific training for staff regarding CASAS implementation process at Briya.
- Train AE staff to use TopsPro to create individual and class results of eTests for students and teachers.
- Track and save staff CASAS credentials.
- Manage TE/eTests usernames, permissions, and passwords resets for staff in TE
Data management
- Maintain CASAS student records, test forms, and student class enrollments in TE.
- Maintain a variety of confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic lists and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of material as needed.
- Inventory and verify the condition of all CASAS restricted testing materials, accounting for test booklets for the purpose of adhering to testing protocols and legal requirements.
- Track student progress and retention with regards to CASAS, evaluate student attendance records in the context of CASAS.
- Assist in the creation, analysis, and interpretation of CASAS data/reports for program improvement.
- Enter CASAS test data into assessment tracking system with attention to detail and accuracy, working in collaboration with the Senior Data Management and Accountability Specialist.
- Monitor the amount of Web Testing Units (WTUs) that Briya has purchased and notify Chief Academic Officer if more WTUs are needed.
- Assist with CASAS data export of TE information as needed.
- Assign CASAS test levels to students in eTests.
Test administration
- Conduct, control, and schedule examination sessions of CASAS.
- Coordinate and oversee CASAS testing at all sites.
- Coordinate and supervise all testing of students that have left the program and need to return to take CASAS.
- Support teachers in class-based testing.
- Conduct individual testing (in-person and remote).
- Proctor CASAS eTests as part of New Student Orientation
- Communicate with a variety of personnel (e.g. students, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of providing accurate, timely and up-to-date information regarding CASAS testing processes, procedures and outcomes.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience – Willing to obtain CASAS certification in Implementation Training, ETests Proctor certification, and ETests Coordinator certification. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.
Physical Demands – Regularly required sitting; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
