Claremont McKenna College and the joint Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Program look to support student success and create a supportive environment for recreation, health, and wellness through holistic wellness opportunities within Roberts Pavilion. This role primarily services students, faculty, and staff from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges in addition to external constituents.

BASIC FUNCTION
Reporting to The Director of Recreation, the Recreation and Guest Services Administrator is responsible for providing administrative and managerial leadership to the Recreation and Athletics Department by overseeing building management, facility events, and day-to-day operations within Roberts Pavilion. This position serves as the lead administrator for facility operations staff, including Recreation Service Associates, Student Staff Managers, and Lifeguards.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Guest Experience
- Demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service skills when engaging with our diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and guests
- Utilize the Roberts Pavilion recreation management system to meet the needs of program registration, scheduling, membership enrollment and renewals, equipment check-out, and the tracking of member visits and transactions
- Ensure touchpoints across our user’s journey are engaging, efficient, and effective
- Respond to guest queries in a timely and effective manner
- Assists with development and annual reviews of rules and regulations related to eligibility and access control
Staff Administration
- Recruit, onboard, train, evaluate and schedule student staff
- Manage memberships and databases for Roberts Pavilion utilizing Fusion, prioritizing user accessibility and convenience
- Provide an environment that supports strengths-based learning through ongoing coaching conversations and offer mentorship and guidance to student personnel, empowering them to excel in their roles
Facility and Event Administration
- Coordinate the management, setup, and breakdown of staff special events and non-athletic campus events in our facilities, ensuring seamless execution and attendee satisfaction
- Collaborate on the development and revision of facility policies, ensuring they reflect safety for users and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Communicates closely with athletics to ensure facilities are transitioned quickly and efficiently to accommodate all user groups
- Collaborate with the Director of Athletics Facilities and Operations on training of student staff for event operations

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or the equivalent in work experience. A degree in Recreation or Sport Administration is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in campus recreation preferred. 1 year of full-time professional work within campus recreation at any level preferred. 2 years of part time or student leadership in recreation will be considered in lieu of 1-year full time work.
LICENSES: A valid driver’s license is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Part time hourly workers.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position will vary, with the flexibility to set work hours appropriate to the needs of the department. Some holiday, weekend, and evening work hours will be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division. This is an 11-month position; the off month should be either June or July.
