High School Diploma or GED; completion of a State of Maryland recognized apprenticeship, and two years work experience at the journeyman level; or, seven years of electrical trades experience, including two years at the journeyman level.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- One year certificate from college or technical school; and completion of a state of Maryland recognized apprenticeship with three years of industrial experience to include a back ground in programmable controllers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of standard electrical trade practices, methods, tools, instruments and equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical code requirements and standard electrical tests, repairs and new installations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, and other specifications.
- Ability to analyze electrical problems and recognize safety warnings.
- Ability to install and repair all types of high-voltage electrical equipment.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee may be exposed to the hazardous conditions of a construction site. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
The employee is responsible for using safety devices and protective equipment in order to minimize the frequency and severity of work related accidents. The employee is also responsible for using safe practices and methods in the operation of equipment and supplies related to their particular job.
