Cornell Tech’s Studio is the signature differentiator of the eight master’s degree programs at Cornell Tech. All 400+ of Cornell Tech’s master’s students participate in a practically oriented, multi-disciplinary, team-based curriculum, corresponding to eight credits across two semesters. In the Studio, students work in multi-program teams to learn and practice user-driven tech industry development processes, creating prototypes of digital-enabled products and services. Students engage with end-users, companies, nonprofits, and government agencies in creating prototypes of digitally enabled solutions to real-world challenges, getting vital feedback and ideas from fellow students as well as faculty and practitioners from the NYC tech community, via a variety of formats, including flipped-classroom lectures, crits, scrums, sprints, and more.

The Studio Operations Coordinator supports the execution of Cornell Tech’s Studio program, working under the Director of Studio Partnerships to manage, scale, and improve the many moving parts of this program.
The Studio Operations Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Studio program, ensuring a positive classroom experience for students and external partners alike. 

The ideal candidate is one that thrives in rapidly changing environments, can take initiative and be proactive when there are many moving pieces, enjoys ‘wearing different hats’ and focusing on different parts of the job throughout the year, and is overall excited by a role that evolves and changes as the Studio programs scale and grow.  This candidate has the ability to connect academic culture and curriculum to real-world digital culture, and excels in developing and managing relationships.

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Work in either an academic or corporate setting coordinating or managing student services, event planning, training, or program development and implementation
• Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and significant experience in program execution
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and relationship building qualities are essential. Ability to communicate with, work effectively with, and maintain a positive rapport with students, faculty, corporate stakeholders, vendors, and community partners alike
• Proven ability to work in a team context, as well as the ability to be effective when working independently
• Demonstrated computer skills and experience with standard desktop tools
• ??Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with a CRM platform (like Salesforce)

Position Responsibilities: 

Operations and Program Management: 70 %

• Partner with the Director of Studio Partnerships in the development of new curriculum, coordinate meetings, record action items, and facilitate follow-ups.
• Serve as a resource for students; provide guidance and oversight to students on Studio use, policy and procedures.
• Facilitate student surveys and analyze results; make adjustments to improve the content and quality of the program.

• Develop and coordinate Studio events (in-person, remote, and hybrid), including crits, Maker Days, Open Studio etc.
• Assist in developing, managing and monitoring the Studio budget.
• Manage Studio classroom supplies and the Studio’s hardware device library.
• Collaborate with faculty and practitioners with the setup and operations of the physical Studio,  providing support in the logistics of operating a classroom, including classroom activities like attendance, deliverables (homework), and coordinating with student graders.
• Liaising with Cornell Tech facilities, security, catering, and other stakeholders to produce large-scale events such as Maker Days and Open Studio. This includes negotiating contracts and resolving moderately complex problems.
• Assist in the management of the Studio Slack workspace.
• Participate with the Director of Studio Partnerships on strategic and operational planning for the program; make recommendations for improvements.
• Assist in developing marketing materials and strategies.
• Hire and train student employees.

Data and Partnership Management: 30 %

• Assist in the stewardship of external company and practitioner relationships by developing and hosting Studio information sessions, etc.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with other departments.
• Identify and track key data metrics for the Studio program, including student enrollment, course evaluations, project outcomes, and practitioner involvement, recommend improvements. 
• Develop a digital portfolio of student work to help the Studio create the classroom of the future.
• Develop and maintain a database to track and analyze Studio program data, providing regular reports to the Studio team and external partners.
• Manage data integration between Studio systems, such as Qualtrics, AirTable, and Salesforce, to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
• Update and maintain training documentation and train individuals on Studio systems.

Other position-related responsibilities :

Participate in projects with occasional work responsibility falling above or below current classification.
