Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Student Affairs principals and best practices.
Knowledge and understanding of student engagement practices .
Experience planning and implementing new student orientations and co-curricular events.
Knowledge of Federal Regulations pertinent to 8 CFR 214 (f).
Knowledge, understanding, and implementation of Federal Regulations pertaining to on-campus employment, CPT, OPT, Change of Status, Reinstatement, I-20 program extensions, and SEVIS registration protocols.
Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to work in SEVIS environment.
Knowledge of University recruitment and admissions practices.
Experience in managing student and advisement staff.
Experience working in a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Development and continued growth in ones own cultural competency.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience of in-depth knowledge of programmatic and operational assessment principals and protocols.
3 years of experience in of advisement principles and practices.
3 years of experience in development and implementation of cultural events, educational workshops and new student orientations.
3 years of experience with University Admissions and comprehensive knowledge of Federal Regulations based on 8 CFR 214F.

ADMINISTRATIVERESPONSIBILITIES
Provide supervision and oversight for 1 International Student Advisor and 6 front office student administrative support staff.
Oversee the department’s day to day work flow to maximize OISE advisement, F/J benefit applications and regulatory compliance based on 8 CFR non-immigrant mandates.
Lead the development and implementation of the department’s qualitative and quantitative data collection systems and protocols to better inform engagement programming and quality of service as well as digitization and archiving of past and present student immigration documentation.
Provide recommendations on OISE annual budget development to the Director.

ENGAGEMENT & RETENTIONRESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with several campus offices and programs (i.e. Academic Advising, S.O.S., Office of Leadership and Engagement, Housing, Student Accounts, Financial Aid) to develop and implement comprehensive retention, engagement and cultural transition programming that includes but is not limited to new student orientations, continuing education workshops for students, international cultural celebrations, as well as community/network activities.
Develop and implement training for faculty and staff related to cultural competency for serving international students.
Oversee social media platforms and University outreach via social networking platforms.
Connect international students to Academic Advising, Academic Support, Counseling/Health Services, Student Accounts, Career and Transfer Services.
Develop content for OISE newsletters and/or other student outreach opportunities.

IMMIGRATIONCOMPLIANCERESPONSIBILITIES
Provide academic, financial and non-immigrant advisement to international students based upon comprehensive understanding and knowledge of all on-campus support services and federal regulations pertaining to the F-1, F-2, B-1, B-2, H-1, H-4, CAPGAP Extensions and relevant filing and procedural aspects for each status.
Collect and evaluate sensitive financial, legal, and academic documentation necessary for the issuance of Initial Attendance and Transfer I-20’s, processing of Change of Status, Reinstatement, OPT, CPT, Program Extensions, and SEVIS Registration protocols.
Initiate and follow up on complex SEVIS/DHS Data Fix issues, I-515 Point of Entry Visa misclassifications, and USCIS Processing Center informational requests.
Interact with, update and query SEVIS
Ensure that all visa and I-20 processes are in full compliance with federal regulations and SEVIS requirements.

STUDYABROADRESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overseeing La Verne’s Study Abroad program. This includes work with OISE Director, faculty, and supporting offices to assure that sufficient study abroad opportunities are available for La Verne students through external (i.e. CIEE, OSAP, LAMBDA) and other approved providers.
Recruit students for participation in program. Coordinate and provide advisement for students and faculty on study abroad opportunities. This includes working with other departments to ensure program registrations.
Oversee payments to study abroad providers including verification of invoices and preparation of check requests.
Maintain statistics and data on the program for reporting purposes. Attend to issues raised by students, parents and administrators on site, while the students are abroad.

Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act, the Associate Director is designated to receive and report criminal incidents to the Department of Campus Safety so that they may be included and published in the University’s Annual Security Report.
