Job Description
The Visual and Studio Arts program at Sarah Lawrence College announces a one year, half-time, guest appointment with possible renewal an additional two years in sculpture, beginning Fall 2024. This guest faculty will teach one 5-credit studio course each semester with a maximum of fifteen students, and one 2-credit “concept class” during the fall semester. The courses will take place on Mondays and Thursdays. In addition to regular coursework, students enrolled in the 5-credit course will complete a significant independent project or ‘conference’ work, a hallmark of Sarah Lawrence’s educational system. Candidates should have the ability to teach sculpture students of all levels. The committee welcomes artists working within traditional sculpture practices, as well as candidates possessing knowledge and understanding of new technologies, fiber, installation, site-specificity, or other time-based methods of making. Students are liberal arts candidates and may have varying experience in a sculpture studio.
