Job Overview:
This Director will oversee members of the Strategic Improvement Deaprtment. Reporting directly to the AVP of Business Operations for Childrens Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Qualifications:
Preferred:
- Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare or related area and requires a master's degree or higher
- Undergraduate degree in a business related field and a Master degree or higher,
- Experience with performance improvement activities of a large scale organization,
- Six sigma training is preferred but not required,
- Ability to work as a member of a team,
- Must possess leadership attributes including motivation, mentoring and planning skills,
- Knowledge of statistics and data analysis,
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and prioritization skills,
- Must be able to manage projects to achieve desired outcomes and manage multiple priorities,
- Knowledge of hospital productivity measures and systems to achieve desired measures,
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Six sigma Green Belt preferred and/or experience with performance improvement activities
- Licensed clinician preferred

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for assisting all quality improvement teams, and organizational performance improvement teams,
- Provides information, data and resources to develop and implement Performance Improvement Plan and organizational strategic plan in accordance with the mission, vision and strategic goals of Children s Specialized, federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation standards,
- Responsible for Educating and training hospital staff and leadership on their responsibilities in carrying out the improvement initiatives,
- Responsible for assisting the organization to sustain and/or further improve desired performance levels,
- Oversees the Strategic Improvement staff who perform the advanced work to determine where improvements can be made in business procedures to improve operational efficiency
- Responsible for identifying operational gaps and performing systematic SWOT analysis and implementable actions,
- Oversees the implementation of recommendations and suggestions for improvements in any aspects relating to increased performance as assigned,
- Demonstrates ability to utilize appropriate and varied quality improvement methods and tools,
- Participates in the review and revision of the Hospital-wide PI plan in accordance with the mission, vision and strategic goals of Children s Specialized, federal and state laws and regulations and The Joint Commission accreditation standards,
- Collects and summarizes performance data and other critical operational metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement,
- Leads and facilitates internal quality improvement teams and other committees as assigned,
- Communicates effectively to all departments and hospital staff, assuring information is understood by those to which it is intended,
- Implements work systems and processes to achieve desired results,
- Serves as an expert resource to department, hospital and medical staff on quality and operational improvement best practice principles and associated tools and techniques,
- Assist departments with interpretation of data, findings, displays and identification of undesirable patterns/trends in performance, making recommendations for further intensive analysis,
