The Transplant Financial Counselor (TFC) is a critical member of the transplant multidisciplinary team and works collaboratively with physicians, nurse coordinators, social workers, practice coordinators and external insurance case managers to ensure that patients are financially eligible and cleared for services throughout the transplant process. The TFC also collaborates with the Contracting Department for non-contracted payors and resolves billing issues for transplant related services with UCSF’s billing representatives. The TFC will manage a large caseload of approximately 1,000 pre-transplant patients which includes counseling and education during the evaluation, waitlist and transplant phases of care. The TFC is a critical role and is required of all transplant programs as stated in the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) bylaws.
The TFC works independently and follows the guidelines as set forth by the transplant department policies and procedures. The TFC provides patient education on insurance rules and regulations, counseling on transplant specific financial expectations, reviewing patient financial responsibility, coordinating the insurance process for patients for evaluation, waitlist testing, living donor workup, Living or Deceased Donor Transplant Surgery, and other specialty referral appointments as necessary. This includes obtaining all needed authorizations for above mentioned services while seeking to maximize the utilization of benefits and coordinate cost-effective care in a managed care environment for each patient.

Any time you conduct a search, the system shows you job matches, ranked by their Relevance Score (RS).
The score is calculated by a proprietary algorithm that uses Intelligent Machine Learning.
The Relevance Score tells you how well the job opportunity matches your search term or terms.
When not logged in, the system is limited to one search term. Scores for single term matches are usually lower.
When you register, log in, and set up multiple terms prioritized by importance, the jobs found for you will receive a much higher Relevance Score.
