Compensation: $19.50 per hour
Wage Range: $19.50 - $20.26
Core business hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm, (flexibility to work overtime when required)
Has a basic working knowledge of product inspection processes and procedures for Pens, Pencils and Art Materials. Performs general visual and functional inspection on finished product and packaging and conducts product tests and evaluations. Performs all product movement to facilitate pulling and returning samples and operates material handling equipment (pallet jack, dolly and hand truck only) required to accomplish tasks in a warehouse environment. Performs data entry of inspection results and is capable of completing duties with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties:
Responsible for specific visual and functional inspection responsibilities in Operations Warehouse environment checking incoming shipments of finished goods from the global network of suppliers.
Accountable for accurate diagnosis and analysis to facilitate disposition of acceptable and/or failed inspection items, and the reporting, documenting and performing data input of results.
Accountable for complete and accurate inspection, calculation, documentation, and data input of results.
Performs Receiving Inspection of finished goods, evaluation on rejected products, verification on Customer returns, and warehouse Rotational Inspection using Oracle MRP System, Advance Shipment Notice, Lot Identification, etc. in accordance with specific inspection assignment.
Maintains appropriate electronic and hard copy documentation of all inspections and tests, reports problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor, and conducts all work in accordance with established and required safety processes and procedures.
Follows Mil Standard 105E or designated sampling plan dependent on specific assignment to conduct random sampling of finished product and performs all material handling (no power devices) to facilitate the retrieving and returning of samples leaving product packaging as originally received and/or stored.
Removes plastic and transport packaging with provided safety knives and randomly pulls samples from containers. Retrieves samples by identifying each by box for accurate return samples.
Verifies correct packaging, appropriate seals (AP, CL, etc.), Bar Code on packaging and product.
May perform general visual and functional verification inspections to more complex inspection and tests using calibrated measuring devices and equipment.
Inputs all results into Monthly Overseas Inspection database and issues Non-compliance (NCR) reports as applicable.
Documents nonconforming results on NCR reports and identifies each pallet of product as unacceptable for use.
Documents customer complaints on Claims Analysis Form and completes evaluation of questionable returns.
Documents and applies Product Disposition per pallet and notifies related departments for product dispositions.
Performs lead/heavy metal testing and phthalate testing on XRF Analyzer and Infrared Scanning systems.
Performs trend analysis with applicable TQC tools (PDCA/7 Quality tools) on product variation and or supplier performance.
Utilizes processing support systems and devices to record receipt, and completion of product inspected. (R.F. Scanners)
Organizes and identifies and stores retention samples for timed evaluations of product life or consumer complaint analysis.
Wherever possible reduces loss of defects from inspection process, destructive testing etc.
Responsible for following all recycle procedures, environmental laws, regulations, and Company requirements.
Participates in preparing for environmental accidents and emergencies and follows approved plans when incidents occur.
Trains new personnel as requested.
Attendance and punctuality are an essential job duty

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
2 years’ experience or previous experience exhibiting skills and ability to facilitate tasks required to fulfill duties.
Knowledge, Skills and General Abilities:
General to advanced product inspection and test procedures
General to advanced knowledge of quality assurance principles and processes
Standard test equipment, Calipers, Micrometers, Force Gauges, Pin Gauges, XRF, IR, Torque Analyzer and Microscope.
Material Handling capabilities
Good verbal and written communication skills
Other Special Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience in Lean Six Sigma would be a plus.
