The Alumni Engagement Officer serves as a primary source of communication, connection, and outreach to specific populations of alumni for the purpose of increasing alumni engagement in event attendance, volunteering, and also financial support of Azusa Pacific University. In addition this role supports the development and implementation of alumni engagement initiatives and provides support to the Office of Alumni Engagement’s special projects, events, and programs that will help to track, measure, and increase alumni engagement at APU.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s preferred.
Required Experience
- A minimum of three to five years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, volunteer management, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability in relationship management, sales, volunteer management, or development.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and managing programs required.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing events required.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
- Alumni Engagement Outreach
- Conduct regular email outreach to alumni and meet alumni engagement goals for correspondence and information updates.
- Manage a roster of alumni based on either specific population, program, location, or affinity.
- Meet with alumni either in person, virtually, or over the phone to fulfill key performance indicators related to alumni contacts for the purpose of growing their connection and sharing the opportunities for engagement with the institution.
- Recruit volunteers to increase alumni engagement and participation in events.
- Utilize LinkedIn Sales Navigator to source alumni for potential recruitment efforts and event participation.
- Create and execute customized engagement outreach to increase alumni participation in Homecoming, Reunions, and any other alumni sponsored events.
- Maintain relationships with alumni, volunteer leadership, faculty, and administrators to advance efforts.
- Travel states to regional alumni events, individual meetings with alumni, and university-sponsored events, if needed.
- Provide oversight, direction, and strategy for the Alumni Affinity group program.
- Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs (evenings/weekends when required).
- Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
- Project Management
- Develop, implement, and sustain specific projects for the Office of Alumni Engagement to fulfill the goals and strategy of the department including volunteer management, event management, regional outreach, population specific strategies, and other alumni initiatives.
- Partner with University Advancement to ensure that all alumni engagement data is being tracked.
- Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
- Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Prioritizing and scheduling workload to ensure completion when faced with deadlines or emergencies.

- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel with accuracy and skill.
- Ability to quickly adapt and learn new computer and website procedures and processes.
- Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

Compensation
- Grade 10: $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
