Qualified candidates will possess Emissions and State Inspector's License as well as a Class B Commercial Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one). Do you have the ability to provide your own mechanic hand tools? All candidates selected for hire must pass health physical and police background check to include fingerprints, credit check and employment verification. ABOUT THIS ROLE: Successful candidates will have the ability to independently diagnose and repair County vehicles, hydraulic drive units, grounds maintenance and small equipment, using electronic scan tools, equipment and machinery. A class B CDL license is preferred, Emissions and State Inspector’s License are required and must provide own hand tools. Inside and Outside work is required, and knowledge of computers and electronic data entry is preferred. PREFERENCES: the successful candidate will have… A. . Diagnose, adjust, repairs and services a wide variety of air compressors, generators, public safety vehicles, and truck hydraulic systems. B. Performs skilled mechanical repairs, overhauls and maintains specialized equipment. C. Overhauls, fabricates and services assemblies and accessories such as single and two speed rear axles, multi speed transmissions, and hydraulic compressed air, vacuum and electric controls, systems and components. D. Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment to include inspecting, diagnosing and locating mechanical problems in County vehicles and equipment. E. Operates various types of shop equipment, machinery, precision instruments, specialized tools and devices such as dynamometers, boring bars, valve refacing and reseating equipment, micrometers, dial gauges, wheel alignment gauges, clutch cover assembly devices, power saws, grinders, drill presses and lathes. F. Diagnoses and repairs computer aided systems such as fuel injection, anti-skid brakes, emission and engine sensors using computerized equipment. G. Performs state safety inspections and state emissions inspection of County Vehicles. H. Requisition parts and materials used in the repair of equipment via computerized equipment. I. Establishes and maintains service records and files pertaining to shop operation, equipment and supplies used in vehicle repairs and maintenance. J. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Hiring Bonus (for CDL holders only) - this position qualifies for a one-time cash signing bonus of $3,000! This bonus will be paid in two installments and is subject to all applicable tax withholding and reporting requirements. The first installment of $1,500 is payable upon the County’s first regular pay date following your position start and the final $1,500 installment will be payable on the pay date following the completion of your probation.
