The Prince William County Police Department is offering creative, challenging, and rewarding work as a Business Services Analyst (Payroll & Telestaff Administrator) within the Compensation & Benefits Unit. The Prince William County Police Department’s Compensation & Benefits Unit is responsible for the pay and benefits of over 900 Police employees as well as policy development and system integration. The Business Services Analyst that is selected will oversee payroll processes, work with automated systems to verify accuracy of reporting, problem solving and training others on system use. This position also requires excellent customer service skills, ability to efficiently research and succinctly communicate answers and resolutions both verbally and in written communication.
About This Role: In this role your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provide both written and oral communication to the department on a variety of topics from: payroll process, changes in Department policies and UKG Telestaff process and procedures.
Assist in maintaining the functionality of our automated time-keeping system, UKG Telestaff.
Compile and analyze data for reporting as needed.
Facilitate UKG Telestaff payroll and training for the Police Department.
Assist in initiating, drafting, and communicating department policies related to payroll and time-keeping records as needed.
Respond to daily payroll-related inquiries by employees.
Maintain integrity of human resource processes using department systems, such as: UKG Telestaff, BlueTeam Correspondence, IAPro and Mobius Workforce.
Perform administrative operations in payroll, including but not limited to auditing and reviewing information for accuracy and processing payroll adjustments.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and four (4) or more years of experience in the preparation of payroll and maintenance of financial and/or statistical records and data.
Preferences:
Experience with UKG Telestaff or similar scheduling/payroll systems for a large department/organization and maintenance of system.
Experience processing and reconciling payroll.
Working knowledge of Prince William County payroll practices for full and part-time employees.
Familiar with creating auditing tools and reports. SQL knowledge a plus.
Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel experience.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Willingness to cross-train in other functions related to Fiscal &Technical Services.
Willingness to be flexible with daily responsibilities within the Compensation & Benefits Unit.
Customer Service experience.
Special Requirements: May be required to pass a criminal background check.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time position. Operating hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm (37.5 hours per week). The actual schedule will be determined between the candidate and supervisor. Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends if emergency situations arise. Starting Salary Range: $64,311.00-$90,650.50
