Job Description:
Develop and deliver stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines
Conduct drainage design activities, including the analysis of existing drainage systems, designing new drainage systems and ditches, and creating appropriate plans
Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS to model major bridge and culvert crossings
Employ software tools such as Pipesoft, Culvertsoft, to design and analyze pipe networks and culverts
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management, contributing to the project deliverables and progress reporting
Prepare permit sketches, construction documents, specifications and cost estimates as needed
Perform scour analysis
Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verifying surveys
Required:
Minimum of Five (5) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling and stormwater management
Proficient with industry software: MicroStation, HEC-RAS, SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil3d, InletSoft, PipeSoft, CulvertSoft
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
Experience with OpenRoads Designer
Experience supporting VDOT and other local Virginia agencies
