Position Description Summary:
The George Washington University, Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Forensic Science invites applications for a full-time, three (3) year special services assistant professor position within the Master of Forensic Science program in the field of Forensic Molecular Biology to begin Fall 2024. We seek a broadly trained forensic biologist, with at least three years of experience in a forensic science laboratory, who is prepared to teach graduate classes in the field of forensic science and forensic biology.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be required to teach three classes per semester in the field of forensic science based on their specific experience. Examples of classes include, but are not limited to, Forensic Biology, Forensic Molecular Biology, Population Genetics, and introductory courses to the forensic sciences. Job responsibilities also include student admissions, supervising student research projects, and advising students in their academic and career paths. The successful candidate will be expected to interact with local crime labs to foster student internships and serve in student independent research project committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a master’s degree in Forensic Science, Biology, or other related sciences. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a DNA analyst or teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in a forensic sciences program.
